1) They met on Instagram
At the beginning of Harry and Meghan, Harry saw Meghan for the first time: via a mutual friend’s Instagram. After seeing her pictures, the prince’s attention was immediately caught.
“I was scrolling through my feed, and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them, it was like Snapchat… That was the first thing. I was like, ‘Who’s that?’ “
Because of this, a mysterious mutual friend set them up for a blind date in July 2016 when Meghan was in London for Wimbledon, which set the stage for the start of their royal courtship.
2) Meghan followed Harry’s secret Instagram
Initially, Meghan admitted not knowing Harry despite his global fame as a prince.
“Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the royal family,” she explains in an interview with the BBC. “I didn’t know much about him, so the only thing I asked was … ’cause if he wasn’t kind, it didn’t seem like it would make sense.”
She also revealed that she stalked Harry’s personal Instagram after a mutual friend tipped them off about her interest in him. Seeing most of the nature shots from the prince’s Africa trips, Meghan was taken with adoration.
Soon, the first date was set up at the prestigious Soho House at 76 Dean Street.
3) Harry was late for his first date
“We met at 76 Dean Street. You’re late!” Meghan teased Harry at Harry and Meghan.
“But he kept texting. He was like, ‘I’m in traffic. I’m so sorry. I’m in traffic. I’m so sorry.’ … I didn’t know him then, so I was like, ‘Oh, Is that what he does? Got it.’ And I wasn’t interested in that.”
Nervous, Harry admitted that it wasn’t just a good boy mask—he was actually nervous and embarrassed.
“I freaked out. I was, like, sweating.” he says, adding that he “showed a hot, sweaty, red ball of shit.”
Despite this, though, it didn’t take too long for sparks to fly between the two. “It was just so fun, just so fresh fun. And that was it. We were like, like kids together,” Meghan recalls.
4) They tried to keep their relationship secret
When Harry met Meghan, he immediately wanted to shield her from the media and the British press.
“When I got to meet M, I was terrified of being turned away by the media—the same media that turned so many other people away from me,” said the former Duke of Sussex. “I knew the only way this could possibly work was to keep it cool for as long as possible.”
After 4 months of keeping it quiet, the couple was informed that news of their relationship had leaked to the tabloids.
On 31 October 2016, the relationship was finally made public. That same day, Meghan posted a picture of two bananas with spoons on her Instagram account, hinting at a relationship.
Meghan later appreciated being able to date in private for a few months, saying that the five or six months they shared in privacy were “wonderful.”
5) A Knight in Shining Armor
It was not always correct. After the news broke that the two were out of their relationship, Meghan almost immediately began to abuse the media.
On 8 November 2016, Harry issued a press statement regarding the issue. it reads:
His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of these have been very public – a smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of the commentary pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
Rajkumar also shared how he has fought a “legal battle of the night” to stop the defamatory stories from being published.
He pointed out how even Meghan’s mother has had to fight past paparazzi to get to her front door, and how photographers tried to encroach on Meghan’s property.
This, of course, is worrying for Harry. From the beginning of their relationship till date, they have been battling to maintain their privacy.

6) It’s a date!
In the summer of 2016, when Harry had to do some work in Africa and Meghan had a break from filming Suits, the prince wanted to take Meghan to Botswana.
“He said, Do you want to come to Botswana?”Meghan says.
Of course, she accepted the offer, but without any doubt. “I’m going on a plane and I’m going through the Bush? What? What am I doing? What if we do not like each other, and then we are stuck in the middle of the Bush in a tent?”
Yet, Meghan took a leap of faith – which rewarded the couple with great kindness.
Harry later shared that the trip was “fantastic”, and applauded for Megan being “in a tent [with her] for five days”, despite having only been with her twice before.
“You believed in me a lot and a lot on that trip,” he says to the actress.
Being alone for five days was really for that couple. This was the time when they got to know each other better, which was important to Harry.
“It felt very right, and it felt very normal,” he said of Harry and Meghan. “That was when it hit me, like,” ‘Well, this girl, this woman is amazing, she’s everything I’m looking for, and she’s so comfortable and so carefree in my company.'”
7) she meets the family
In the documentary series, Harry reveals that his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, was the first member of the royal family to meet Meghan.
“It’s real. It wasn’t like some big moments like, ‘You’re going to visit my grandma now,’ Meghan said. “I didn’t know I was going to meet him until some time ago. We were in the car, and we were going to the Royal Lodge for lunch. And he’s like, ‘ Oh my grandma’s here, she’s gonna be there after church.’
Apparently, it was very nervous-after all, she did not know that she was going to meet the Queen of England!
“And I remember we were in the car and we were driving and he was like’ you know how to do curtsy, right?”And I thought it was a joke,” Meghan shared.
“How do you explain this to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother and that you will need a curse? Especially to an American. It’s weird, ”Harry said. How cute!
8) Will you marry me?
